Friendly's, Hershey's ice cream products among various brands recalled over bacterial contamination concerns
Consumers are being advised to avoid certain ice cream products due to concerns about possible Listeria contamination. Ice cream products from popular brands like Friendly’s, Hershey’s, and Chipwich have been recalled by Totally Cool, Inc. The Maryland-based company stopped production and distribution of ice cream after potential traces of Listeria monocytogenes were found in FDA sampling. There have been no reports of illnesses so far. Listeria can cause serious infections, particularly in pregnant women, children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, headache, nausea, stomachache, and diarrhea. The CDC recommends contacting a healthcare provider if you suspect you have consumed contaminated products.
